Dr. Rogers uses a variety of soft tissue techniques to release the tendons, ligaments, fascia and muscles that may be holding the body in positions that are restricting motion and causing pain.

These soft tissue manipulation techniques include myofascial release, active muscle release, and VibraCussor™ percussion technique. After these release technique are used, the body is then adjusted to restore proper alignment using a combination of physical chiropractic techniques. In some cases kinesis tape is used at the end to get better lymphatic drainage and more muscle support while the body heals.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is very densely woven, covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein as well as all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is not just a system of separate coverings. It is actually one structure that exists from head to foot without interruption. In this way you can begin to see that each part of the entire body is connected to every other part by the fascia, like the yarn in a sweater.

In the normal healthy state, the fascia is relaxed and wavy in configuration. It has the ability to stretch and move without restriction. When we experience physical trauma, scarring, or inflammation, however, the fascia loses its pliability. It becomes tight, restricted and a source of tension to the rest of the body. Myofascial Release technique allows us to come in and reverse this negative behavior and restore equilibrium to the body.

VibraCussor™ Percussion Technique

Definition of New Dimension VibraCussor™ Percussion Instrument

Percussion is a new treatment modality for those who suffer from musculoskeletal pain and Myofascial trigger syndrome. It is non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that may serve as a therapeutic alternative to trigger point and epidural injections or to be used when other treatments have failed. Performed on an outpatient basis, the New Dimension VibraCussor™ Percussion Instrument carries little or no risk and is relatively comfortable.

Suitable candidates for VibraCussor™ Percussion Instrument

Individuals who suffer from musculoskeletal pain and local tenderness in areas characteristic for individual muscles or that characterize Myofascial trigger syndrome, and in those who experience referred pain in a distribution specific for the individual muscle. The "trigger" or affected area of muscle is firm or hard to palpation; sometimes it has a ropy consistency and may appear contracted or in spasm.

The following general indications and contraindications for vibratory and related therapies to determine patient selection inclusion and exclusion criteria are recommended as guidelines.

General Indications for VibraCussor™ Percussion Instrument

  • Adhesions
  • Congestion
  • Lymphatic Impairment
  • Myalgia
  • Post exertion muscle fatigue
  • Trigger point
  • Spasticity

Active Muscle Release

Active Muscle Release is an innovative approach to treating soft-tissue injuries and mal-adaptive compensation – adjustments the body makes to compensate for inappropriate muscle use and movement. Some of the compensations include swelling, immobilization, pain, stiffness, and even physical changes to bone, cartilage, and connective tissue.

Kinesio Tape

The Kinesio Taping Method involves taping over and around muscles in order to assist and give support or to prevent over-contraction. The first technique gives the practitioner the opportunity to actually give support while maintaining full range of motion. This enables the individual to participate in their normal physical activity with functional assistance. The second technique, which is most commonly used in the acute stage of rehabilitation, helps prevent overuse or over-contraction and helps provide facilitation of lymph flow for an entire 24 hour period. Correctional techniques include mechanical, lymphatic, ligament/tendon, fascia, space and functional.

Activator Adjustment

The activator adjustment is a low force technique used to gently manipulate the spine into its correct alignment. To address spinal joint dysfunction, we use an instrument called the Activator. The Activator instrument delivers a controlled, light and fast thrust, without causing undue strain to patients. Activator adjustments are so quick and controlled, your body's muscles are less likely to resist, allowing for a more precise and exact adjustment.

Manual Physical Adjustments

Spinal Manipulation which chiropractors call "spinal adjustment" or "chiropractic adjustment", is the most common treatment used in chiropractic care; in the U.S., chiropractors perform over 90% of all manipulative treatments. Spinal manipulation is a passive manual maneuver during which a three-joint complex is taken past the normal physiological range of movement without exceeding the anatomical boundary limit; its defining factor is a dynamic thrust, which is a sudden force that causes an audible release and attempts to increase a joint's range of motion.
